LEVEL 4: PLATINUM
CLIMATE CHAMPION
Level 4 requires a direct contribution to the fund based on your carbon footprint.
In order to meet the most ambitious sustainability goals, the aviation industry is going to need new technology that enables emissions reductions within its own industry. In order to accelerate these new technologies, 4AIR is launching the nonprofit Aviation Climate Fund. Contributions to the fund will support research and development for future aviation technologies and emission reduction solutions. Carbon offsetting and SAF will make much-needed progress, but are not by themselves enough to achieve a true zero impact.
The fund will provide grants and investments to universities, nonprofits, nongovernmental entities and other research centers to support new technologies aimed at further reducing emissions in aviation. Technologies such as the deployment of electronic GPUs, solar power at the gate, advanced flight optimization algorithms, winglets and drag reduction devices, new battery technologies and cleaner fuels all are potential areas for support.
The Aviation Climate Fund (ACF) is partnering with leading universities and institutions to support their research that facilitates and lays the foundation for these new technologies. Since 2021, the ACF supports research under the Aviation Sustainability Center (ASCENT), a collaborative partnership of leading aviation companies and universities, to fund research aimed at emissions reductions in aviation.
This fund, unique in aviation, is aimed at unifying aviation stakeholders to support work that goes beyond today’s best practices and establish new levels of sustainability,
